November 2023

November 29th

When it comes to plans we had set in October for the month of November, it looks like we’re going to come up short in a few areas. (And, fair to say, the plans made in September for October ran down a similar path.) Still… let’s take a look at the reality…

Fourteen essays posted so far on the site this month and well clear of 25,000-words on a project for National Novel Writing Month. Neither hits the targets we had heading into November. But—and this is true of the thirteen essays added in October—both of these results have led to a lot of progress. We’re getting material posted here in Backpackville, and some work is moving along on the bigger efforts.

I’m happy.

Which leads us to the plans for December and beyond…

First up, we’re going to start delivering materials on a specific day each week. Consistent. Steady. That day is going to be Thursday (with a start next week on December 7th). Content could still arrive at any time, when there is something ready to share. But this should allow us a better routine for getting together.

Next, books. Material is being sorted to have two books released early in 2024. The first of these—A Parkside View: Volumes 7 & 8—will be out before the end of February. The second—my first published novel—is being prepared for March.

Those dates are pretty solid. We could actually have things ready ahead of those dates, and I’ll post updates as we move along. Because there are some really interesting appearances being planned, there might be a bit of adjustment involved, but I think if anything it will be to move the dates up. Some of them will involve new efforts and presentation styles, which in turn means a schedule could be designed to best fit in the book releases as well as events associated with each release. But I actually expect to follow these two books up with other titles and projects later in the year, and do not plan on sliding the first two back.

And since we briefly mentioned the monthly newsletter, we’ll wrap up our announcements by saying the December issue of A Parkside View will be out in the next few days. If you haven’t already, make sure you sign up for it.

Ok… back to work… content coming soon.

November 11th

Hmm… this morning we reach a bit of a strange point on the November journey.

Got three essays to share. For the month, that places our count at 14 new pieces, and we appear to be headed toward meeting the essay-a-day average. But…

This is also a month for NaNoWriMo. And, we’re about to hit a stretch of ridiculous travel. So, we could be in a bit of trouble as far as making it to thirty-plus efforts posted. Next few days should settle a lot for it.

Enjoy the new work. We’ll be back again later this week with some news and more.

Five essays today. (I know. Surprise!)

Should have a few other things to present coming out of the weekend. Until then… enjoy the essays… and enjoy the November edition of A Parkside View.

New material at the end of the post.

Going to be a straightforward entry today. Here’s what you can expect this week…

November’s A Parkside View is ready and has begun making the rounds. If you haven’t signed up for it, WHY NOT?!? All you need to do is send an email our way, or a message at any of our social media pages. We’ll get in touch with you and get everything set up.

Should have a few announcements, along with a NaNoWriMo update in the next day or two.

Hard to believe…

If you can’t leave a message…

November 1st

We’re going to dive into the month slowly as far as updates and news. Quick post to kick things off.

Since we fell short in October, we’re approaching November as an essay-per-day month, hoping to connect on thirty or more new additions to the site. Also, we’ve got the November edition of A Parkside View ready to release this weekend. And, we’re returning to National Novel Writing Month for an effort this year. All that, plus we’re hoping to be able to share several surprises about multiple things over the next few weeks.

So, busy, busy, busy month ahead. And it begins today with two essays.
