April 2024

April 25th

There is the chance of another post or two this month, but it’s more likely we’re finishing up April today with a new essay.

LOTS of exciting projects coming together, and we’re going to be announcing them in the opening days of May.

The Essays with Dumb Old Bob

We’re starting a podcast.

More details will be released soon, but here are the basics…

The current concept builds on an audiobook foundation. Each episode will use one of Bob’s essays. A format has been debated and tested and formed. But, we anticipate that some changes may take place as experience arrives and feedback comes in.

Jay and Justin have been phenomenal in this process. Jay has done some outstanding work on the logo and art design. Justin has been brilliant, using his talents to create original music for the show.

We anticipate a debut of The Essays with Dumb Old Bob in mid to late May.

I really enjoyed the first film, so news that My Spy: The Eternal City is on the way is very welcome news. Adding to Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman seems to be a return from Kristen Schaal along with Ken Jeong plus the arrival of Anna Faris.

I critiqued NBC when roughly a month ago, they announced Kelly Clarkson and Peyton Manning joining Olympic coverage. Like both of them. They’re fine. But neither motivates me to watch The Games in any way, and it seemed like a desperate move to me and a cry for attention. This article from William Hughes for The A.V. Club heads down the path of Snoop Dogg wandering around Paris for NBC, plans to put heart monitors on family members, and a network facing financial troubles from the product. It’s a good, funny read.

When I sat down to watch the first Sonic movie, I wasn’t expecting much. I was hoping for a mindless, fun film. I got an exceptional, really fun film. Same for the second movie. So, TV show and third movie on the way, looking forward to Idris Elba and more of the Sonic world.

Planning on a busy few days from the weekend, with a lot of projects moving along. So, quick day today. Just an essay.

Indiana Jones and the box office shortfall

Roughly a week ago, Bob released his fifteenth book, which is also his fourth collection from the monthly newsletter.

Containing sixty-four essays, it contains all fifty-nine efforts from volumes 7 and 8 of A Parkside View accompanied by five pieces written exclusively for this title. It’s available in print and Kindle editions, as well as for those using Kindle Unlimited.

Olivia Coleman and Benedict Cumberbatch appear onboard for The Roses, which will be a remake of the classic War of the Roses.
